If you’ve been searching for handgun training in North DFW or need to complete the range instruction requirements for your Texas License to Carry (LTC), we’ve got great news: Gunjock LLC has opened enrollment for new group handgun classes, including multiple 2025 dates for our popular Handgun 1 (HG100) and Handgun 2 (HG200) courses.
Both courses are held at the Mission 160 Range in Whitewright, TX, and taught by a Texas DPS-certified LTC instructor. These classes meet the Range Instruction and Handgun Proficiency training requirements for the state of Texas.
HG100 – Handgun Fundamentals
Handgun 1 (HG100) is a one-day, 8-hour course designed to help students build safe, effective, and defensive firearm skills in a structured outdoor environment. This is a draw-and-fire class and is ideal for shooters who already have basic handling experience but want formal instruction on topics like:
- Firearms safety, storage, and transport
- Drawing from the holster
- Grip, stance, and sight picture
- Reloads and malfunction clearing
- Texas LTC range qualification
- Concealed carry techniques and mindset
This course is not suitable for first-time shooters. If you’ve never handled a firearm before, we recommend starting with private instruction.

HG200 – Accelerated Handgun
Handgun 2 (HG200) builds on HG100 and is designed for intermediate-level shooters. It focuses on speed, precision, and decision-making under stress, blending real-world self-defense skills with competition-style pressure. Key topics include:
- Dynamic drawing and shooting on the move
- Non-diagnostic malfunction drills
- Rapid reloading and recoil control
- Defensive tactics and offline movement
- Post-shooting procedures and situational scanning
- Performance-based live fire and dry fire drills
Students must complete HG100 or have equivalent experience (e.g., IDPA, USPSA).
