Sean Young, President and Founder of Gunjock LLC, competed in the 2024 Texas State IDPA Championship, hosted by Collin County IDPA and held May 24–26, 2024, at the beautiful Mission 160 range in Whitewright, Texas. In addition to competing, Sean also served as the Assistant Match Director.
“This was a really challenging match here at home—one of the most technical matches I’ve ever shot, even compared to most National or World Championship matches. And as it almost always does, the Texas weather came into play. We had a lot of rain early in the week that made setup a real battle for the crew.
My PCC ran great for most of the match, but I had two stages where the bolt didn’t lock back. That’s on me—I need to do some LRBHO maintenance, which is a common issue with AR9 platforms. I also had a few ‘needs improvement’ moments: I hosed the warm-up stage and took unnecessary points, went to war with a target to save a single point down, and hit a non-threat late in the match.
But there was plenty to be proud of. My movement, stage planning, and accuracy were dialed in. I’m really proud of this performance—it was a tough match, with stiff competition, and it all happened right here in ‘my house’ at Mission 160.” – Sean Young | Gunjock LLC
